Psychosocial Recovery Coaching
A Psychosocial Recovery Coach is a distinct NDIS role, not a Support Coordinator. Recovery Coaches spend more time with participants and bring knowledge of mental health recovery to the work. Support is paced around you, recognising that mental health changes over time and that the support around you needs to change with it.
What Recovery Coaching Involves
Building a Trusting Relationship
Recovery coaching starts with time and trust. We work at your pace and stay consistent through the periods when staying engaged is harder, rather than closing the file when contact drops off.
Recovery Planning
Working with you to build a recovery plan that reflects what you want your life to look like - not just the services that happen to be available - and revisiting it as things change.
Increasing Your Recovery Skills
Supporting you to develop your own strategies around motivation, decision-making, self-awareness, and managing the impact your mental health has on everyday life.
Coordinating Your Supports
Connecting and coordinating your NDIS supports, mental health services and other providers, so that the people working with you are working with each other too.
Recovery Coaching may suit you if
- Your NDIS plan includes funding for a Psychosocial Recovery Coach.
- You live with a psychosocial disability and want recovery-focused support.
- You would prefer a longer-term relationship over a task-by-task service.
- You need your NDIS supports and your mental health services to work together.
